Day Nine
DAY NINE
The devil is constantly looking to steal the seeds of faith. Have you ever sat through a message at church and for some reason, even though it’s a great message it just doesn’t seem to penetrate your heart and bring change? Its almost like it sits on the surface of your heart and by the time you get home you can barely remember what the message was about! You can literally tell that the devil has stolen the seed! There are things that you can do to stop this happening and the first is to be aware that it’s a possibility.
I love the story in Genesis 15 where God appears to Abraham in a vision and gives him a promise.
Genesis 15:1-6
Some time later, the Lord spoke to Abram in a vision and said to him, “Do not be afraid, Abram, for I will protect you, and your reward will be great.”
2 But Abram replied, “O Sovereign Lord, what good are all your blessings when I don’t even have a son? Since you’ve given me no children, Eliezer of Damascus, a servant in my household, will inherit all my wealth. 3 You have given me no descendants of my own, so one of my servants will be my heir.”
4 Then the Lord said to him, “No, your servant will not be your heir, for you will have a son of your own who will be your heir.” 5 Then the Lord took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
6 And Abram believed the Lord, and the Lord counted him as righteous because of his faith.
Straight after this verse about Abraham having faith, comes this question…..
Genesis 15:8
…… “Sovereign Lord, how can I know that I will gain possession of it?”
There is nothing wrong with asking God to confirm his promise.
So the Lord said to him,
“Bring me a heifer, a goat and a ram, each three years old, along with a dove and a young pigeon.” Abram brought all these to him, cut them in two and arranged the halves opposite each other; the birds, however, he did not cut in half. Then birds of prey came down on the carcasses, but Abram drove them away.
The Bible says that we are children of Abraham, and inheritors of God’s promised blessing. Just like Abraham we have to drive the birds of doubt away; the faith stealers, and every time we do we are growing our faith. That seed of faith is the secret to your future so fight hard to protect it.
Today write out specific promises the God has given you that you have yet to see fulfilled and begin to pray over them.
