Day Twenty-Four
DAY TWENTY-FOUR
Today I want us to move on to another Faith Healer, the confession of your faith. The words that we speak are a creative force for either life or death.
Proverbs 18:21 says:
The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
And the verse before says this: “From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;
with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.”
Now before I say another word, I want to confess to you that I was born with a shortcut to my mouth that often bypasses the logic, or wisdom center in my brain!
So this is an area for me, that I have been working on since childhood (thanks to my Father’s insistence), and now continue to have to work on (thanks to my Heavenly Father‘s insistence) ☺
Now I have got that off my chest, let’s get back to those verses, and consider their meaning. Your words create the ‘fruit’ that you live; your words become internalized nourishment to your body…..I don’t know about you but that is both challenging and scary! Think about what this means, if you are speaking negatively, about yourself and about others, you will ingest that negativity and just like in the natural the saying “you are what you eat” applies to your words too! If you feast on words that align with what God says about you, it will produce a harvest within you that nourishes your soul and spirit and brings healing to those areas affected by the words of others.
No wonder Hebrews 10:23 instructs us to “hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)”
The word profession here means an agreement, to be of one mind with, to speak the same as. Wow!!! What if you and I on this journey of becoming rich in faith actually came into agreement with and spoke the same as God speaks over ourselves and about ourselves! Imagine the healing that would take place (I’m getting convicted just writing this!)
Here’s what I want you to do today, read these verses that state what God says about you, and begin to speak the truth over yourself in agreement with God
Scripture to meditate on: “You are no longer darkness, but light in my Son. Walk as children of light (Ephesians 5:8). You are the light of the world, a city set on a hill (Matthew 5:14). I have called you (2 Peter 1:3). I have chosen you (Revelation 17:14). You are now a saint, a servant, a steward, and a soldier (Romans 1:7; Acts 26:16; 1 Peter 4:10; 2 Timothy 2:3). You are a witness and a worker (Acts 1:8; Ephesians 2:10). Through Jesus you are victorious (1 Corinthians 15:57). You have a glorious future (Romans 8:18). You are a citizen of heaven (Philippians 3:20). You are an ambassador for my Son (2 Corinthians 5:20).”
