Day Thirty-Eight
DAY THIRTY EIGHT
Philippians 1:3-6
I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
I have to be honest here and admit that I like to start things but I’m not as excited about finishing them! I often lose interest and start looking for the next thing to start! The good news is that God is not like that; He’s a finisher, a ‘completer’! He will help us push through our natural tendency to pull back when things get hard, when our faith ‘muscle’ gets tired. When you are in the gym, a trainer will always take you PAST the point where you think you are finished and get you to do just a few more repetitions to keep you moving forward. (True story, I learnt this early and would ‘fake’ my limit on days I felt like I needed a break …..can’t believe I’m telling you this LOL?)
I think this year has been like this for most of us, it’s like we have been pushed past our ‘comfort ability’ into an area of no previous experience, where our ‘faith muscle’ has been tested and tried. I just want to encourage you that the God who started a work in you this year, WILL complete and finish that work. As we near the end of the year, and the intentional time of growing our faith, I want to remind you that it’s not your effort that will grow your faith. If you and I submit to the process in surrender and trust then HE will complete the growing of your faith, not in 40 days, not in a year but until the day of His determining, where you meet Him face to face! It’s a life long adventure!
This morning as I was getting ready for the day there was a phrase going over and over in my spirit; “territory taking faith” I feel like this year God has developed strength WITHIN us, that strength has been tried and forged in the fire. Sometimes growth within isn’t as satisfying as outward growth, but it is lasting and produces results. Let’s go into 2021 knowing that even though we may not see results on the outside, that the strength that we have allowed God to develop within us this year will be the strength we will fight with and take territory in the year ahead.
