Day Twenty
DAY TWENTY
I think it has been an awesome exercise to examine where we are in our ‘store of faith’ and deal with faith stealers that were possibly stealing our faith without us realizing.
We are half way through our 40 days and after yesterday’s intensity ☺ let’s pivot and start to talk about the things that we can do to increase our reserves of faith, things that build us up, and make us rich in faith.
On day one of this journey I said that the currency of the Kingdom of God is faith. Each kingdom has a currency and the kingdom of God is no different. God wants you to be wealthy in faith because the more you have, the more you can do.
Like money, faith can grow and it can diminish. There are things that cause it to increase and other things that cause it to decrease.
Today I want to talk about the first faith healer, the one for me that has to be at the top of the list: The Word of God. When talk about the Word of God, we are not speaking of words written down on parchment,
I just want to state right at the beginning that the Word of God we are talking about is alive, life giving and is described by Jesus as the seed in the parable of the sower. That means that within the seed is life, creative power; potential to grow, to multiply, and to create in you (the soil) something that was previously not there before.
Luke 8:11-15
Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity. 15 But the ones that fell on the good ground are those who, having heard the word with a noble and good heart, keep it and bear fruit with patience
The seed is the word of God, the word used here is ‘sperma’, and just like the seed of man needs an environment in which it can take root and begin to grow, God’s Word needs the soil of your heart to be cleared of rocks, and faith chocking weeds. The good news is that we have just spent the last twenty days clearing out things from the soil of our hearts that are faith stealers, that would prevent the miracle of life giving faith from taking root and flourishing! We will continue talking about the Word of God and its active role in increasing your faith tomorrow, but today take a moment and ask God to reveal anything else that would stop your heart from being described as “good soil” Lets be deliberate today about offering to God our hearts soil that has been ploughed, and prepared to receive His Word.
