Day Twenty-Three
DAY TWENTY-THREE
When we allow God’s Word to ignite faith in us, when we allow it to become a creative force, like a seed, it begins to produce fruit in us; a harvest of right living the Bible says. The more we ingest God’s Word, the more faith it creates in us, the more our spirit man flourishes and the more effective we are as Kingdom Ambassadors.
Of course growing faith is not what the devil likes to see, I said before he is the mastermind faith stealer! I’m sure even in these last 22 days as you have intentionally purposed to become rich in faith, a war has been waging to try to stop your progress. You are not alone! But here is the cool thing, the hearing of God’s Word creates Faith, and that faith becomes your shield to protect you when the enemy is trying to come at you!
Ephesians 6:16-17
In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
I don’t know if you also noticed that the Word of God, the thing that ignites our faith, that activates our shield, is also our weapon! In other words if you are not spending time in God’s Word, your faith will be depleted, and you will not only find yourself without a shield of protection, but also without a weapon to fight back with!
The shield of faith the bible says is “able to extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one” His intent is to ignite in you a fire of ungodly passion or emotion. We are all people of passion and deep emotion, whether we display it outwardly or not! God created this seat of emotion within us to be responsive and ‘explosive’ when lit with the right “spark.” His intent was that His Word and Spirit would be the one to light that spark and set us on fire for Him and Kingdom purpose. The enemy knows this, and ambushes us with arrows to light that spark with the wrong kind of emotion and passion. The thing about arrows is that you rarely ever see the person who shoots them; they come from afar and by surprise. That’s why your shield of faith is so critical, having it UP and READY on a daily basis extinguishes those attacks that take you by surprise.
Take a moment today to check if you are on fire, and if so, ask yourself: “who started that fire?” Was it God or did the enemy sneak a flaming arrow through your defense? Lets use God’s Word to ignite faith in us that will extinguish any fires within us that were not started by God.
